Biography

Sung Woo Hong is a dedicated Minnesota attorney and the founder of Hong LLC, a law firm primarily focused on immigration law. Passionate about guiding individuals, families, and businesses through the complexities of the U.S. immigration system, Sung Woo provides strategic legal counsel tailored to each client’s needs. Whether assisting with visas, green cards, naturalization, or other immigration matters, he is committed to delivering knowledgeable, compassionate, and results-driven advocacy. In addition to managing his firm, Sung Woo serves as a staff attorney at Pacific Justice Institute, where he advocates for individuals in Minnesota for their religious freedom.

As a bilingual attorney fluent in Korean and English, Sung Woo takes pride in serving Minnesota’s Korean community, ensuring that language and cultural barriers do not prevent individuals and businesses from accessing quality legal representation. He is deeply engaged in cultural and professional organizations, working to support and inspire Korean immigrants and entrepreneurs in Minnesota.

Sung Woo earned his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of California, Irvine, graduating magna cum laude and as a member of Phi Beta Kappa. He then obtained his Juris Doctor from the University of Minnesota Law School, where he was actively involved in the Christian Legal Society’s student chapter, Theatre of the Relatively Talentless (as a pianist), and the Minnesota Journal of International Law. He also served as a judicial extern for the U.S. District Court for the District of Minnesota, working for a federal magistrate judge.

Beyond his legal practice, Sung Woo is deeply committed to professional and community engagement. He serves as a Board Member of the Christian Legal Society of Minnesota. His dedication to legal excellence and community service was recognized when he received the 2024 Member of the Year Award from the Minnesota Asian Pacific American Bar Association.
